A solitary figure rises from dark water, offering a tangled mass of sea life—yet the true weight is not in what is held, but in what has already taken hold. The octopus, wrapped tightly around the head, becomes inseparable from the body itself.
What begins as possession shifts into something else entirely.
Something that adapts.
Something that claims.
The concept of a tithe—a payment owed—runs beneath the surface of this piece. Not as a transaction made willingly, but as something inevitable. A slow giving over, where the boundary between self and burden dissolves.
