This year, I promised myself that I would participate in local events, including Farmers Markets, anything with beer in the title, Art shows, and the wooden boat show. Surprisingly, I have had so much fun connecting with people and talking about art.
The best part about all the shows is watching how people react to my art -something I don’t get to do in galleries. I have always found comedy in all my current art, but I never knew what other people saw. Turns out they see the comedy too! Each person that entered my booth would either burst out laughing or smile. It is the greatest compliment I have ever received in my life. More than the “you have talent”, “what beautiful work”, or even “you have a great imagination”. Never have I been so truly humbled and grateful for such reactions.
All I can think about is how wonderful it is that I am able to bring some laughter into the world with my art. Mission accomplished.
